Solving and Justifying Mathematical Proofs

We challenged ourselves to mathematical proofs. Students had to decide if the proofs were true or false and justify their answer. If it was false, they needed to change it to make it a true statement. This activity required connection and collaboration since they needed to talk and write their thinking and understanding individually and collectively.

We will do more of these types of problems throughout the year with a variety of mathematical concepts. This once focused on place value.
